Carbon Check (India) Private Limited is an internationally renowned certification body committed to excellence in the delivery of impartial and competent third-party assurance services covering validation, verification, and certification of climate change projects across the world with special focus on Africa and Latin America. CCIPL is accredited, certified, or recognized, as applicable, by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), Gold Standard Foundation (GS), Social Carbon, Climate Community and Biodiversity (CCB), Global Carbon Council (GCC) and SD Vista for providing verification and validation services in each respective regime. Carbon Check is involved in validating project proposals or verifying whether implemented projects have achieved planned greenhouse gas emission reductions. It manages and conducts verification and validation audits of greenhouse gas emission reduction projects.

Position: GHG Assessor (Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage)

Reporting to: Project Manager / Team Leader

Location: Noida, India (Office based)

Roles and Responsibility:

  • Be a part of team and carry out validation / verification of GHG removal projects.
  • Prepare Validation/verification plan for the on-site / remote audit.
  • Conduct Desk Review of the submitted information:
  1. Verify the accuracy of collected information,
  2. Confirm the sufficiency and appropriateness of gathered evidence
  • Prepare desk review findings report
  • Prepare Draft Validation / Verification Report (DVR)
  • Assessment of responses and resolution of audit findings
  • Prepare Final Validation / Verification Report (FVR)
  • Project Management i.e., time as well as resource management
  • Managing and building client relationships

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge about and on-hand work experience in GHG emission reduction project development, implementation, and/or validation/verification,
  • Knowledge about and on-hand work experience in GHG schemes viz., CDM / VERRA/ Gold Standard for Global Goals/ Plan Vivo etc.
  • Knowledge of CO2 capture and storage in geological reservoirs:
  1. Unit operations in carbon capture and storage (CCS) facilities;
  2. Determination of the boundaries of a geological storage, storage site and storage complex, and the migration of CO2 plumes within storage sites;
  3. Estimation of emissions of CCS facilities through overall mass balance of all input and output source streams and through direct monitoring;
  4. Procedures to determine emissions from leakage events and seepage;
  • Knowledge of CO2 removals from the atmosphere and durable storage in geological, terrestrial, or ocean reservoirs, or in products:
  1. Carbon removal processes including nature based and engineering removals;
  2. Non-permanence and reversal risks associated with the removal processes;
  3. Approaches for remediation of reversals such as buffer pools, insurance, replacement of credits and temporary credits;
  4. Potential sources of leakage associated with a removal activity;
  5. Quantification and estimation of emission reductions or removals.
  • Knowledge of Life Cycle Analysis and understanding of ISO14040/ ISO14044.
  • Knowledge of CCUS technologies such as: Direct air carbon capture and storage (DACCS), Bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS), Concrete carbonation (incl. enhanced concrete carbonation), Carbonatable by-product materials, Enhanced weathering on managed land, Enhanced weathering in rivers, Ex-situ mineralization, In-situ mineralization, Ocean alkalinity enhancement, Direct Ocean CO2 removal, Ocean fertilization, Biomass burial, Slurry and Oil.
  • Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of GIS databases for geological maps, Geochemical modeling, 3D static/ dynamic earth models.
  • Understanding of statistics/sampling and experience in analyzing soils, rocks, and water.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including client relations.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Team player with a high degree of self-motivation.
  • Attention to detail, and commitment to quality.

Educational Qualification and Experience:

  • Advanced Degree in Geology, Geochemistry, Geoecology, Soil Chemistry, Soil Science, Agronomy, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in related domain is preferred.
  • ISO14040/ISO14044/ ISO14064 certification (preferable)
